Kinesiology: A Holistic Treatment

To deal with the pains associated with muscle stress, most people take pain killers, even if these cause drowsiness and possibly even addiction. The problem with pain killers is that they deal only with the pain experience and do not treat the injuries that are the source of this pain.

Practitioners of applied kinesiology are able to determine health imbalances in the organs and glands of the body using specific muscle tests. After the diagnosis, they employ different methods to restore balance and treat the problem.

Kinesiology as a holistic treatment is also known to improve on the patient's state of mind and spirit. This does not come as a surprise when considering that physical pain largely affects one's disposition and can cause depression and moodiness.

The diagnostic techniques used in kinesiology to test the muscles are safe and non-invasive.

Although there could be a little discomfort, muscle testing is a painless procedure and involves placing the limbs in various positions. The kinesiology practitioner then applies gentle pressure to test the response of the underlying muscle. In the case of non-responsive muscles, it is indicative of the need for treatment or corrective therapies. These treatments are normally manual procedures that may include muscle-deep massage, chiropractic realignment, and strength training for the affected muscle.

Kinesiology recognizes the connection of muscle dysfunction to various mental and emotional imbalances, and physiological problems as well.

Kinesiology does away with guesswork in the diagnosis of a patient's condition by using the body's natural biofeedback system. This technique allows the kinesiologist to communicate directly with the body, pinpoint the exact location and nature of the imbalances, and ascertain the treatments required, including the precise order they are to be applied to the body.

In this manner, the treatment becomes holistic, totally eliminating pain and restoring health to the patient. The permanent cure hinges on the treatment of the root cause of the problem, rather than the accompanying pain symptoms.

Kinesiology has been proved effective in treating conditions such as: acne, allergies, arthritis, depression, digestive problems (recorded to have the greatest recovery), all kinds of muscle pain, learning problems, and post operative pain.

Kinesiology treatments are tailored to each individual's particular requirements, although they almost always include reflex massage. The other types of treatments may involve mechanical adjustment that uses gentle chiropractic or massage to realign the skeletal structure. Remember, the human body has 206 bones, with ligaments attaching them to muscles. Thus, when the skeletal structure is realigned, muscular tension is eased, and consequently, blood circulation improves and nerve impulses normalize.

Practitioners of kinesiology also focus on the patient's diet and nutrition as part of the therapy. The assessment includes charting of the patient's current vitamin and mineral consumption. Based on these findings, the diet is modified to ensure that the proper food nutrients are being absorbed by the muscles. In addition, the chart is useful in identifying any possible food allergies. For the different emotional imbalances (such as anger management issues and depression), herbal remedies are included in the kinesiology treatment program.

With the holistic approach of kinesiology, these treatments are necessary preventative measures employed along with treating the original problems or complaints presented during the initial consultation.
